Human Epidermal Keratinocytes, Neonatal

ABC-TC3606 1 vial Ask for price
Description: The epithelial layer of the skin provides an essential function as a protective barrier against insult from the outside environment. The major cell type in this layer is keratinocytes which consists around 85% of living epidermal cells. Keratinocytes are the cells of stratified squamous epithelia. It is so named because its most abundant protein is keratin. Keratinocyte divide and are thus generated in the basal layer of the epidermis; this division is followed by a programmed death as they produce keratin and move up to the surface of the epidermis. Keratinocyte proliferation, differentiation, and apoptosis are complex and carefully choreographed processes. Besides the protective function, keratinocytes also play a central role in tissue homeostasis, wound healing, cancers, and skin-based gene-therapy. Human keratinocytes express adhesion molecules and cytokines indicating their participation in skin innate immunity and homeostasis in vivo. HEK-n from Gentaur Research Laboratories are isolated from neonate human epidermal tissue. HEK-n are cryopreserved on primary culture and delivered frozen. Each vial contains 5×10^5 cells in 1 ml volume. HEK-n are characterized by immunofluorescent method with antibodies to cytokeratine-18 and -19. HEK-n are negative for HIV-1, HBV, HCV, mycoplasma, bacteria, yeast and fungi. HEK-n are guaranteed to further expand for 15 population doublings in the condition provided by Gentaur Research Laboratories.

Human Neonatal Epidermal Keratinocytes

ABC-TC3985 1 vial Ask for price
Description: Neonatal Human Epidermal Keratinocytes (NHEK) are cultured by first, isolating the keratinocytes from the epidermis of the neonatal skin and then, establishing a primary keratinocyte culture. Upon completion of the primary culture, the cells are harvested, aliquoted into individual vials, and placed in liquid nitrogen storage until shipment. This product has been thoroughly tested and found to be free of the HIV Type I, Viral Hepatitis Type B and C, mycoplasma, bacteria, yeast, and fungi.

Human Epidermal Keratinocytes, Adult, Pooled

ABC-TC3976 1 vial Ask for price
Description: Epidermal keratinocytes represent the major cell type of the epidermis, making up about 90% of the cells. They originate in the stratum basale and undergo gradual differentiation including profound morphological changes during their shift to the stratum corneum. In the stratum corneum, the final barrierlayer of the skin, keratinocytes are found as nucleus-free, flat, and highly keratinized squamous cells. Gentaur offers a range of Normal Human Epidermal Keratinocytes (NHEK) from single donors or pooled donors produced at Promo- Cell’s cell culture facility. The cells are isolated from juvenile foreskin or from adult normal human tissue from different locations, e.g. face, breast, abdomen, and thighs. Shortly after isolation, all Gentaur Normal Human Epidermal Keratinocytes are cryopreserved at passage 2 (P2) using Gentaur's proprietary, serum-free freezing medium, Cryo-SFM. Each cryo vial contains more than 500,000 viable cells after thawing. Proliferating cell cultures are made from 500,000 cryopreserved cells that have been thawed and cultured for three days at Gentaur.

Human Epidermal Keratinocytes, 10-Donor Pool

ABC-TC3980 1 vial Ask for price
Description: Normal Human Epidermal Keratinocytes (HEK), when grown in LIDer K Medium, provide an ideal serum-free culture model, for the study of wound healing, toxicology or epithelial biology. When in need of multiple keratinocyte cell lots, our HEK, 10-donor pool offers a wide range of donor demographics for research at an economical price. All HEK are quality tested in LIDer K Medium to ensure optimal serum-free growth over a period of at least 15 population doublings at rates equal to or greater than serum-supplemented medium. Our HEK need not be exposed to antimicrobials or phenol red when cultured in LIDer medium; an advantage since these supplements can cause cell stress and "masking effects" that may negatively impact experimental result.Cell Features:HEKn are cryopreserved as primary cells. Cells are isolated from neonatal human foreskin and expanded once in culture vessels before cryopreservation.HEKa are cryopreserved as primary cells. Cells are isolated from adult human skin and expanded once in culture vessels before cryopreservation.HEK can be grown without serum, phenol red or antimicrobials when cultured in DermaLife medium.HEK are extensively tested for quality and optimal performance.Gentaur guarantees performance and quality.
